A 26-year-old Toledo man was in the Lucas County jail for allegedly firing a gun in the direction of Toledo police officers while they cleared an unruly crowd in the 900 block of West Central Avenue early yesterday.

Bobby W. Glover of 925 Collins St. was arrested by officers as patrols tried to break up fights and disperse large crowds near Auburn Avenue and Central and Albion Street and Central.

Police said officers were clearing a West Central parking lot at 2:47 a.m. when Mr. Glover stood outside a vehicle next to 3002 Albion, aimed a handgun in the direction of them, and fired one shot.

Authorities said Mr. Glover attempted to drive away after firing the shot but could not leave because of heavy traffic. Police said they arrested Mr. Glover, taking a pistol and several rounds from his pocket. A spent casing was also recovered. Police said no one was injured in the shooting and it remained under investigation.
