ADRIAN - An Adrian man was in the Lenawee County jail last night on arson and sexual assault charges, authorities said.

Adrian police allege that Harold Tate, 30, set a fire to a Toledo Street apartment on Feb. 29 that caused $50,000 damage. He has been charged with two counts of arson in the case.

Tate also is facing a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge related to an alleged Feb. 12 assault on a 15-year-old Adrian girl.

With four previous felony convictions in Michigan and Ohio, Tate faces possible life in prison if found guilty of the charges, authorities said.

Bond has been set at $100,000 in each case.
