Man shot in leg, back during home invasion

1/13/2005

A West Toledo man was shot in the leg and back yesterday after the front door of a South Toledo apartment burst open and several suspects rushed in.

Steven Irving, 24, was taken to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals after the shooting about 1:45 a.m. at 447 Southgate Circle Drive. A woman inside the unit, Tameka Parker, 23, of South Toledo, also was taken to MCO Hospitals for a cut hand. A hospital spokesman had no information about either person.

The pair and Cardell Parcher, 21, of North Toledo, were in the apartment when the suspects came in and began shooting. Mr. Irving chased them out and was shot twice. Mr. Parcher tried to flee out a back door, but several males were waiting there. He was forced into the bathroom and punched and kicked several times. He did not seek treatment, police said.

Mr. Parcher said he'd had an altercation at a bar with two of the suspects.
