1st person convicted of B.G. party-law violation fined $50

BOWLING GREEN - A Bowling Green State University student yesterday became the first person to be sentenced for violating the city's sixth-month-old nuisance party law.

Craig Schabel was ordered by Bowling Green Municipal Court Judge Mark Reddin to pay a $50 fine and court costs for the minor misdemeanor.

Mr. Schabel was cited in September after police responded to complaints about a party at his house on the 1400 block of Scott Hamilton Avenue. He was found guilty last month of violating the city law because several illegal activities took place at his home during the party, including litter in the yard and loud music. More than 60 people have been cited for violating the nuisance party ordinance.
