ADRIAN - Two Michigan men have been arraigned in Lenawee County District Court for their alleged role in a home invasion and armed robbery attempt Sunday night.

Phillip Pennel, 27, of Belleville and James Grabiec, 30, of Detroit were charged with home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, and felony firearms counts. Grabiec also faces malicious destruction of police property, larceny, and resisting-arrest charges.

Police said the men broke into a house on Lowe Street, pistol-whipped two men, and bound the men and two other people with tape while threatening to shoot them. Police arrived during the incident and the men fled - one in a vehicle, the other on foot - before being apprehended.

The men were in the Lenawee County jail last night. Bond was set at $1 million for Pennel, and $1.3 million for Grabiec, both of whom are convicted felons, police said.
