PORT CLINTON - Ottawa County Sheriff Bob Bratton has promoted an 18-year department veteran to captain.
Detective Steve Levorchick, 42, began his new duties Tuesday as the department's No. 3 person, under Sheriff Bratton and Chief Deputy Randy Riedmaier.
Captain Levorchick, who was previously a shift sergeant and road deputy, will be paid $48,100 a year, the sheriff said.
Captain Levorchick was named to the post after he and two other internal candidates were interviewed Monday by the sheriff, chief deputy, and Deputy Alexis Fuiava, a representative of the Fraternal Order of Police.
The other candidates for the job were Sgt. Brad York and Detective Doug St. Clair.
