3/9/2005

Ella M. Bully-Cummings, the first female police chief in the history of Detroit, will be the keynote speaker at the eighth annual Greater Toledo Urban League dinner, which begins at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Toledo.

Chief Bully-Cummings was appointed to her position by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick in 2003.

A member of the Detroit Police Department since 1977, she worked her way up from a patrol officer to commander before retiring from the department to practice law in 1999.
