Monroe police probe Saturday bank robbery

MONROE - Monroe police are investigating the robbery of a bank over the weekend.

According to police, a man entered the Standard Federal Bank, 602 South Monroe St., about 9:20 a.m. Saturday and demanded money from a teller. The man gestured as if he had a weapon but did not show one, police said.

The robber took an undetermined amount of cash and was last seen walking south from the bank.

He was described as in his 40s, 6 feet tall, heavyset, bearded, and wearing a plaid shirt and ball cap.
