An inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institution accused of attacking and stabbing another prisoner at the facility was arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Eric Swofford, 43, is charged with one count each of felonious assault and possession of a deadly weapon while under detention. Judge Denise Dartt continued the arraignment to Tuesday. Swofford did not enter a plea.

Anthony Andrejic was attacked Oct. 21 in a recreation area at the state prison, 2001 East Central Ave. He was stabbed multiple times in the back and cut on the left wrist. Prosecutors said Andrejic was stabbed with a metal shank that was made from a spoon. He was treated at the institution.
