Swanton man indicted in rape

BOWLING GREEN - A Wood County grand jury has indicted a 37-year-old Swanton man on charges of kidnapping and rape.

Armin Ryan, a convicted sex offender, is accused of raping a woman March 5 in Perrysburg Township while he was free on a $15,000 bond for another rape charge, which was filed in Lucas County.

Ryan is being held in the Wood County jail pending a bond hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday in Wood County Common Pleas Court.

Ryan met a woman in her early 20s at a bar in Waterville and took her to a residence in the Friendly Village mobile home park on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. He is accused of raping the woman and threatening to shoot her, according to police reports.

In Lucas County, Ryan is facing one count of rape for an assault Dec. 1 in East Toledo. He is accused of raping a 35-year-old female acquaintance in her home.

He is scheduled for trial at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Ryan has previous convictions for attempted gross sexual imposition and attempted abduction. He is classified by the state as a sex offender.
