The Genoa area woman who Oregon police said struck and killed a 5-year-old boy with her car yesterday was charged this afternoon with aggravated vehicular homicide.

If convicted, Angelique M. Dipman, 27, of Ottawa County s Clay Township, faces one to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

She was driving westbound on Starr Avenue Thursday afternoon when she struck and killed Dameatrius McCreary, a kindergarten student at Coy Elementary School, according to police.

The boy was attempting to cross Starr Avenue, a two-lane street, near Berlin Avenue in front of a stopped school bus with its warning lights activated and side-mount stop sign extended when Ms. Dipman apparently disregarded the warning lights and struck the boy, police said.

Lt. Hank Everitt said Ms. Dipman was released on her own recognizance until her 9 a.m. arraignment on Tuesday at Oregon Municipal Court.
