Recovered propane tanks may be tied to meth lab

FOSTORIA - Wood County sheriff's deputies recovered two 40-pound propane tanks containing anhydrous ammonia that they believe are connected to the production of methamphetamine, an illegal stimulant.

The tanks were located Tuesday in southern Wood County near Robins and Turley roads in Perry Township.

Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said investigators believe the anhydrous ammonia - a key ingredient in the manufacture of methamphetamine - is connected to an organization led by Christopher Turley, 29, of Fostoria.

Mr. Turley and five others were indicted in December by a Wood County grand jury on multiple charges relating to illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

The sheriff said members of the organization have discarded or hidden items used in the enterprise in various places, and other items may turn up in fields and ditches.
