Robber of bank may have made fast repeat
4/10/2005A man accused of robbing a South Toledo bank branch Friday may have returned to the scene of the crime yesterday and robbed it again, authorities said.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Daniel James Casey, 46, of Toledo charging him with robbery for the holdup about 10 a.m. Friday at the Charter One Bank, 1460 South Byrne Rd.
About 9:45 a.m. yesterday, a man whose description was "very similar" to that of Friday's robber, entered the bank branch and demanded money from a teller, Toledo police Detective Sgt. Tim Noble said.
At one point, the man threatened to hurt the teller if she didn't hurry up and give him money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect walked up to a second teller and demanded and received more money, police said.
The man walked out the north entrance. Witnesses told police they saw no vehicle or weapon.
Mr. Casey is accused of approaching a teller at the bank Friday, pulling out a navy blue or black folder or portfolio, and demanding and then receiving an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing.
On Friday a man matching the description of that day's robber approached a woman in the parking lot at 1 Owens Corning Pkwy. and demanded her keys.
The suspect grabbed the woman by the shoulder, slammed her into the side of the car, and grabbed her purse before she showed him the keys.
A person the woman alerted in the parking lot about the theft followed the vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Stratus, to southbound I-75 at Collingwood Boulevard.
The car had not been found as of yesterday afternoon, police said.
