A 46-year-old Toledo man accused of robbing a South Toledo bank Friday, and who is a suspect in a Saturday robbery of the same bank, was captured in the Fort Wayne, Ind., area yesterday morning by authorities.

Daniel James Casey remained in the Allen County jail last night.

A spokesman at the jail said he is scheduled for a 9 a.m. hearing at the Allen County Justice Center today.

Steve Miller, supervisory deputy for the U.S. Marshals Service in Toledo, said authorities received a tip and a phone number yesterday morning and traced the phone number back to a Fort Wayne-area hotel.

Mr. Miller said Casey surrendered to authorities without incident.

Toledo police issued an arrest warrant for him Saturday for Friday's robbery of the Charter One Bank, at 1460 South Byrne Rd. Mr. Miller said Casey is a suspect in the second robbery of that bank on Saturday but is not charged with it.

Toledo police said Casey also is a suspect in the carjacking of a woman in a parking lot at 1 Owens Corning Parkway Friday morning before the first bank robbery. Toledo police Sgt. Tim Noble said those incidents remained under investigation yesterday.

Sergeant Noble said the stolen vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Stratus, was located in South Toledo at 10 p.m. Saturday.
