SWANTON - A Toledo area man was shot yesterday in the 100 block of Forrester Avenue in Swanton, and three men were hurt after leading Fulton County sheriff's deputies on a car chase after the shooting, authorities said.

The three were charged with felonious assault.

The victim, whose name was not released but who appeared to be in his early 20s, was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

The three men - Andrew Anderson, Jr., 22, of 1241 East Bancroft St.; John Cavitt, 26, of Chestnut Street, and Donte Richardson, 18, of 253 Knower St. - were taken to Flower Hospital with injuries from the crash on State Rt. 64, about 3 1/2 miles north of Swanton, Homer Chapa, Swanton's police chief, said.

Mr. Anderson and Mr. Cavitt were released after treatment and were to be booked into the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, Stryker. Mr. Richardson was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

The incident was reported about 3:30 p.m. as a street fight. A few minutes later, there was a report of a person shot, and police found a man with a gunshot wound lying on the ground on Forrester, Chief Chapa said.

The three men led deputies on a chase on Route 64 to its intersection with Fulton County Road N, where the car went out of control and crashed. The motive for the shooting was unclear last night, the chief said.
