Toledoan injured in drive-by shooting

A North Toledo man yesterday was recovering from a gunshot wound to one of his legs after he was injured during an apparent drive-by shooting late Friday night near his home, police said.

James Scott, 40, of Cottage Avenue ran into his house about 11:45 p.m. and made it to a couch, where witnesses found him sitting in a pool of blood.

Mr. Scott was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. A hospital spokesman said he was admitted under an alias and that his condition was not known.

Witnesses reported hearing four to five shots. One witness told authorities that a brown, four-door car, perhaps a Mercedes-Benz, sped away after the shooting. It had been parked across the street from Mr. Scott's home, police said.
