BOWLING GREEN A former Bowling Green State University student who had an illicit drug laboratory in his off-campus apartment was sentenced yesterday to spend 30 days in jail and complete a rehabilitative program at the NorthWest Community Corrections Center.

Scott Niedecken, 21, of Pleasanton, Calif., also was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and perform 300 hours of community service by Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey, who also suspended Niedecken s driver s license for two years.

Niedecken was arrested in September after an investigation by Bowling Green police resulted in a search of his Mercer Road apartment, where officers found equipment and chemicals used to manufacture steroids and gamma hydroxy butyrate, commonly called the date-rape drug.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty in May to one count of attempted illegal manufacture of drugs and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.
