Hoax weapon charge against man dropped

BOWLING GREEN A criminal charge has been dropped against a Dayton man accused of sending an envelope of white powder to Sky Technology Resources here in March, 2004.

Craig A. Hart, 25, was indicted by a Wood County grand jury in February on a charge of unlawful possession or use of a hoax weapon of mass destruction, a fourth-degree felony.

However, Paul Dobson, an assistant Wood County prosecutor, said yesterday that the case had been dismissed because results of DNA testing showed that the saliva on the envelope was not consistent with Mr. Hart s.

Investigators suspected Mr. Hart because a traffic citation issued to him in Dayton had been mailed to Sky, which processes payments for the red-light violations caught on camera.

The envelope also contained what authorities said turned out to be concrete dust.
