Authorities seek answers in deaths of Fostoria twins

8/10/2005

FOSTORIA - Authorities yesterday released no further information in the drowning deaths of twin babies Sunday night, saying the investigation was continuing.

Dr. LeRoy Schroeder, Hancock County coroner, said yesterday the autopsy results for Drew and Bryn Kleinmark are not yet complete. The Lucas County coroner's office performed the autopsies.

Fostoria police said they too are waiting for results before they proceed.

"We're still waiting on the coroner to do his thing," Capt. Rodger Wilson, investigation spokesman, said yesterday.

The children, who were born in September in Fostoria Community Hospital, were pronounced dead in that hospital Sunday after an ambulance crew brought them there Sunday evening.

Their panicked father, Greggory Kleinmark, called 911 at

6:07 p.m., saying his babies were not breathing.

When emergency crews arrived just two minutes later, they found the twins had drowned in the bathtub, police said.

Dr. Mark Akers, Seneca County coroner, ordered the autopsies because the infants' Maple Street address is in that county, Captain Wilson said.

However, the case is now under the jurisdiction of the Hancock County coroner because the babies were pronounced dead in that county, he said.

Fostoria straddles three counties: Seneca, Hancock, and Wood.
