Clyde woman charged in thefts from registers

CLYDE, Ohio A young woman from Clyde was being held in the Sandusky County jail after being charged with stealing money from the cash registers at two area convenience stores.

Julie Seitz, 19, was charged by Clyde police with breaking and entering, safe cracking, and possession of criminal tools.

Ms. Seitz, who was arrested Thursday, is scheduled to appear next Thursday in Sandusky County Court for a preliminary hearing.

She also faces charges from the Huron County Sheriff s Office for a similar offense.

Ms. Seitz is accused of stealing about $345 from a Speedway in Clyde on July 14. She previously worked at the gas station and is accused of opening the cash register when it was unattended, police said.

A similar crime occurred Aug. 10 at a Speedway in Huron County where a surveillance videotape led investigators to Ms. Seitz, Clyde police said.

The Huron County sheriff s investigators handling the case could not be reached for comment yesterday.
