Apartment fire injures rural Woodville woman

WOODVILLE A rural Woodville woman was hospitalized after a fire Sunday night damaged her apartment on State Rt. 582.

Fire Chief Paul Heineman said Carol Sheffer was taken to St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, for treatment of breathing difficulties and was released yesterday.

The apartment was attached to an unoccupied house also owned by Ms. Sheffer. She and her sister discovered the fire just after 8 p.m. when they returned from the house.

The fire caused extensive damage to the apartment and smoke damage to the house. The cause remains undetermined.
