DEFIANCE - A 14-year-old Defiance High School student was arrested for making a bomb threat at the school Wednesday, the fifth such threat in two weeks in the district, police said.
The girl, who is accused of writing the threat on a classroom desk and later telling officials it was false, was charged with delinquency in connection with inducing panic.
She is to appear in Defiance County Juvenile Court.
At 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the threat, which said a bomb would go off in the school at 1:30 p.m.
But that bomb threat was different from the ones officials saw almost every day last week. Each of those threats, one each on Oct. 24 through 27, were written on a stall in a girls' restroom.
On Oct. 24 and 27, threats were found at Defiance Junior High School. The Oct. 25 and 26 threats were at the high school.
Each stated a designated time that a bomb was set to go off.
It's school policy to evacuate the building when a bomb threat occurs, and that the building remain evacuated until at least after the time the bomb was set to detonate, police said.
A 13-year-old girl has been charged with delinquency in connection with inducing panic for the Oct. 24 threat. The other three remain under investigation, police said.
