ADRIAN A fire set on the porch of a home Monday evening caused $10,000 damage, authorities said.

The blaze started about 6:45 p.m. on the front porch of 317 South Locust St. and has been ruled arson by the fire department.

The porch was engulfed in flames, which broke a window into the house s front room, causing some fire damage inside by the time firefighters arrived.

It took them 30 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The rest of the house sustained smoke damage.

A family was in the process of moving into the home, but it was vacant at the time of the blaze, fire officials said.
