Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about two men who stabbed a central city man 20 times Monday while he took his garbage out of his home.

Robert Harris, 54, of 666 Palmwood Ave., was in serious condition yesterday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Investigators said he was stabbed in the arms, legs, and chest.

Mr. Harris was taking out the garbage about 6:40 a.m. when he was approached by two masked men in the side yard. One of the men held him, while the other stabbed him numerous times with a knife. Mr. Harris was not robbed, and the attackers said nothing to him during the assault, police said.

The suspects were described as black and in their late 20s or early 30s. One was 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Crime Stopper program.
