Missouri jail escapee caught on Gradolph St.

11/20/2005

A man who escaped from a Missouri jail was arrested Friday night in Toledo, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Darrell James Williams, 33, was captured about 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Gradolph Street after he tried unsuccessfully to give authorities a false identity, the Marshals Service said.

In early September, Williams escaped from the jail, where he was being held on a parole violation and a drug charge from Des Moines.

With the help of other inmates, he was able to get under one fence, over another, and run away.

Williams has lived in Toledo in the past and still has family and friends in the city, authorities said.

David Orwig, 47, of Findlay was with Williams Friday and was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.

Williams will be extradited to Iowa to complete his prison sentence.

He also will face escape charges, the Marshals Service said.
