Blaze in West Toledo damages vacant house

12/30/2005

A fire of undetermined origin caused about $43,000 damage to a vacant house in West Toledo early yesterday.

The blaze at 1916 Woodbridge Rd. began on the first floor and was reported about 1:55 a.m.

The fire may have been arson, but it remains under investigation.

Responding firefighters found heavy fire and said the house was packed with debris, making it difficult for them to work inside the structure. The blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes, authorities said. David C. Beach owns the house.

Firefighter Anthony Comes suffered lower back strain during the blaze.
