MONROE A 27-year-old Ash Township man was arrested Saturday in connection with an armed robbery at the Sunoco gas station on North Telegraph Road Thursday.

Michigan State Police said troopers identified the man through tips and other evidence. Authorities declined to release his name.

A release stated that the man had gone voluntarily to the Michigan State Police post in Monroe after he was confronted by troopers.

The man was charged with armed robbery and assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

A suspect robbed the gas station about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, wearing a Halloween mask and carrying a baseball bat.

When the cashier initially refused to comply, he hit the cash register with the bat and then the cashier.

The suspect escaped with an undetermined amount of money from the station.
