MONROE Authorities are continuing their investigation into a Monday morning incident in which a 3-year-old boy boarded a bus carrying a bag of suspected marijuana.

The substance has been sent to the Michigan State Police laboratory in Lansing. Lab results will be sent to the Monroe County prosecutor for possible charges, said Lt. Luke Davis of the Office of Monroe Narcotics Investigation.

The boy boarded a Head Start bus in front of Charring Square apartments in Monroe Township, where he lives with his parents.

A chaperon noticed the preschooler carrying a plastic bag in his hand and discovered the suspected marijuana.

Charges could be filed against the boy s parents, who have yet to be identified, Lieutenant Davis said. The case also has been turned over to the state s Department of Human Services office in Monroe, he said.
