127 ticketed in crackdown by Monroe County

MONROE - A crackdown by authorities March 14-18 at five high-crash Monroe County intersections resulted in 127 citations issued, sheriff's deputies said.

Among the citations were 11 for running red lights, seven for speeding, seven for driving with a suspended license, and 71 for failure to wear a safety belt.

Intersections monitored included south Telegraph and Dunbar roads, M-50 and South Raisinville Road, Secor and Sterns roads, Telegraph and Smith roads, and North Telegraph and Mall roads.

The crackdown was funded by a grant from the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning. The next enforcement period will be April 11-15.
