Four Woodward High School students were charged yesterday in connection with a theft of nearly $17,000 worth of laptop computers that were in a storeroom in the school, police said.

Kevin Gaston, Jr., 18, of the 500 block of Weber Street and two 16-year-old Toledo boys were arrested and charged with one count each of theft and receiving stolen property. A third 16-year-old Toledo boy was charged with the same offenses in arrest warrants, Detective Jeff Clark said.

A vocational education teacher at the school at 600 East Streicher St. was absent March 3. When he returned March 6, he found 13 computers missing. The shipping boxes were left in the room but the contents were taken, police said.

Detective Clark said one computer was recovered at the home of a man on Mulberry Street. The man bought it for $200. Three other computers have been accounted for, while the other nine are unaccounted for, the detective said.
