Officials can t determine cause of Toledo office fire

3/25/2006

The cause of a multialarm fire at a West Toledo office complex earlier this month was ruled undetermined, fire Lt. Richard Bosak said yesterday.

The blaze March 5 at 3425 Executive Pkwy. caused about $2 million damage.

The area where the fire began was disturbed after the blaze by incidental factors, such as water removal. There was no foul play in the fire, which forced authorities to order the demolition of the building, the lieutenant said.

Also yesterday, a fire caused about $30,000 damage to a two-story, two-unit apartment at 115 Horace St. about 3:25 a.m. The unit was occupied, but no one was hurt. The fire remains under investigation.

About six hours later, smoke was seen from a rubbish fire outside OmniSource, 5130 North Detroit Ave.

Firefighters believe the fuel tank on a scrap vehicle being demolished at the scrap yard ruptured and the fuel ignited.
