DUNDEE, Mich. - A fire early yesterday morning heavily damaged a tuxedo shop, authorities said.

The blaze began about 4:45 a.m. at Tuxedo Boulevard, 461 Tecumseh St., in the rear of the building.

Fire heavily damaged the rear half of the building and the rest had smoke and water damage, said Terry Massingill, assistant chief with the Dundee Township fire department.

No damage estimate was available yesterday.

One employee was inside at the time and escaped unhurt, Chief Massingill said.

The cause of the fire was undetermined yesterday and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police were asked to assist with the investigation, he said.

The building had been used as a tuxedo store for the past few months.

It had previously been an eye doctor's office, and before that was the office of a medical doctor, Chief Massingill said.
