A Toledo man was arrested yesterday in connection with the robbery of a South Toledo bank, less than two years after he was released from federal prison for the same crime, authorities said.

Daryl Jerome Mays, 49, of 615 Parkside Blvd. was charged with one count of unarmed bank robbery.

He was being held in the Lucas County jail without bond after an initial appearance yesterday in U.S. District Court in Toledo.

A man approached a teller on Wednesday at the KeyBank branch, 1950 South Reynolds Rd., and handed him a note demanding a specific amount of money. After he got the cash, the man fled on foot, police said.

Authorities said the same man committed the same crime against the same teller on May 5, but charges for that robbery are still pending.

Mays was released from federal prison in July, 2004, after being convicted of a 2001 bank robbery. At that time, he was suspected of having robbed three Toledo banks.
