A car stolen from an 86-year-old woman in a South Toledo Kroger parking lot Friday morning was found yesterday about two miles away, authorities said.

Police were called about 9 a.m. to the 2300 block of Waterworks Drive to check on a suspicious car. A resident called in, saying the 2001 black, four-door Pontiac Grand Prix had been there since Friday night and, after reading the newspaper in the morning, the person discovered it was wanted from the Friday carjacking, authorities said.

The license plate EP09PY was still on the car.

The vehicle was unoccupied, and police towed it to investigate for evidence.

Wilma Allen had driven to the grocery store at Glendale and South Detroit avenues about 8:15 a.m. Friday on her way to work when a man approached her with his hand in his jacket, as if he had a gun. He told her to roll down her window, punched her in the stomach, and pulled her from the car, cutting her arm. He then fled in her car.

Ms. Allen was treated at the scene and then taken to the Medical University of Ohio Medical Center by her family for further treatment.

The man, described as being white with gray hair, medium-build, and in his 40s or 50s, was not in custody last night.
