2 teens face new charges in rehab facility escape

MARION, Ohio Two northwest Ohio teenagers who escaped from a juvenile rehabilitation center over the weekend are to be arraigned on new charges Friday in Marion County Family Court.

Judge Thomas K. Jenkins yesterday ordered John Morrissey III, 15, of Kenton and John Ohler, 16, of Upper Sandusky held in the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. Formal charges have not yet been filed but are expected to include delinquency in connection with escape and felonious assault.

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey said the pair were getting medication from two attendants at the North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center at 8 p.m. Saturday when they hit and sprayed the attendants with a fire extinguisher, stabbed them with pens, and fled out a window.

Ohler, who was serving time for a breaking-and-entering conviction, was captured about an hour later by Marion police. Morrissey, who was in the rehabilitation center after being found delinquent of aggravated robbery, was picked up about noon Sunday when an off-duty Marion police officer saw him walking along State Rt. 309 between Marion and Kenton.
