Woman indicted over sex with teen

A 33-year-old Springfield Township woman was indicted yesterday for having a sexual relationship with the 15-year-old boy who is the biological father of her 7-month-old daughter.

Dawn M. Fisher was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

DNA testing showed the boy had a sexual relationship with the defendant, court records said. Authorities conducted genetic testing on the woman's baby to determine the paternity of the child, and a DNA comparison to the boy showed he is the biological father, Lori Olender, an assistant county prosecutor, said.

An arrest warrant will be issued for the defendant. A date has not been scheduled for her arraignment in Common Pleas Court.

The investigation into the accusations began after the boy's parents became concerned about their then-14-year-old son spending time at the defendant's home, Ms. Olender said.

When confronted about the relationship, the boy initially denied having sex with the woman. But he later confessed after another juvenile told authorities he witnessed sexual conduct between them, Ms. Olender said.

Ms. Olender said the woman told sheriff's detectives her husband was the biological father of the child and she denied having a relationship with the boy.

According to court affidavits filed in April to obtain DNA evidence, the boy disclosed to authorities that he had sexual intercourse with Ms. Fisher on "numerous occasions" in her home and he believed he was the father.

Sheriff's detectives served a search warrant on the defendant to obtain the DNA of her daughter for the genetic testing.

The indictment states that she had sex with the teenager in March, 2005.

A conviction of the charge carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison.
