Oregon checking driver sobriety today

7/7/2006

A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted today in Oregon to deter and intercept impaired drivers, Oregon police said.

Police plan to be in the 2800 block of State Rt. 2 between 9 p.m. tonight and 3 a.m. tomorrow.

Agencies assisting Oregon police will be the Ohio Highway Patrol, the Toledo Area Metroparks District, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Police said their intent is to educate the public about the dangers of impaired driving and to deter those who might drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
