Authorities mull charges for driver, 6, or parents

FOSTORIA A fender-bender involving a 6-year-old driver last week could go before the Seneca County prosecutor to determine whether charges are warranted against the child or his parents, police Chief John McGuire said yesterday.

The 6-year-old drove his parents minivan into a parked car, causing several hundreds of dollars in damage, the chief said.

The police chief said the boy took the keys to the family vehicle from his East Crocker Street home and drove several blocks before he went left of center and struck a parked car belonging to Jeremy Hoff of 155 East Crocker.

Chief McGuire said the incident will later be transferred to Seneca County Juvenile Court, where the county prosecutor will decide what charges, if any, will be filed. Luckily no one was seriously injured, he said.
