Dundee teen's abductor sought

DUNDEE, Mich. - Authorities were searching for a man accused of dragging a teenage girl through her bedroom window in the middle of the night, leading her to an abandoned building, and fondling her.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies said they believe the abductor was familiar with his victim.

"This is someone local who knows her daily patterns," Detective Jeff Corie told The Monroe Evening News for a story published yesterday. "I really don't think it was a random act."

The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Monday. The man cut off the screen on the girl's bedroom window and grabbed the 16-year-old when she tried to place a fan in the window.

Detective Corie said the man held a knife to the girl and led her to a building at a nearby junkyard where he tied her to a pole, covered her mouth with duct tape, and fondled her.

The man then took the girl to a grassy field, where he attempted to assault her again but was scared off by some people nearby, Detective Corie said. The girl yelled for help, and other people came to her aid.

The kidnapper, who wore all-black clothing and a ski mask, got away in a small, older-model, brown four-door car.
