Session raises awareness of crime against elderly

7/28/2006

The Northern Ohio Elder Protection Training Council yesterday sponsored a one-day training session, New Approaches in the Identification, Investigation, and Effective Prosecution of Crimes Against the Elderly, in the University of Toledo college of law auditorium.

More than 500 prosecutors and law enforcement officers from northern Ohio participated in one of four all-day sessions of the crime-training seminar that was sponsored by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason and Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates.

The goal of the conference was to increase awareness and sensitivity among law enforcement officials for crimes against the elderly, including abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, domestic violence, and assault.
