Authorities are searching for an East Toledo man accused of shooting four people outside a South Toledo bar early this month.

Shawnte Groom, 23, of 1612 Denver Ave., is being sought on arrest warrants charging him with four counts of felonious assault. He is described as black, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Mr. Groom was the gunman in a July 2 incident at Bogart s Sports Bar, 1402 South Ave. After a disorder inside the bar about 2 a.m., a group of men left the parking lot in a sport utility vehicle and patrons started throwing objects at the SUV. That s when a man inside the vehicle fired into the crowd as they drove away, authorities said.

In the parking lot, Tyreece Benton was found shot in the chest and Ben Neal had a gunshot wound in his leg. Robert Boone and Jessica Quate each sought treatment for wounds to their legs from gunshots.

U.S. Marshals nearly caught up with Mr. Groom on Wednesday when they searched a relative s home in Louisville, but he had left the location about an hour earlier. They believe he might have returned to the Toledo area.
