Twenty people have been arrested in unrelated prostitution crackdowns this week in Toledo and Lima, Ohio, authorities said.

A prostitution sweep in Toledo Wednesday led to the arrest of eight people for various prostitution and drug-related charges, police said.

A total of 13 charges were filed and eight arrest warrants were served as a result of the sweep from 6:30 to 10 a.m. that targeted areas of East Toledo, the old south end, and Lagrange Street, police said.

Meanwhile in Lima, 12 people were arrested this week on a total of 44 charges related to prostitution in that city.

Police said the arrests were the result of an undercover operation that began Tuesday night and ended yesterday morning.

The operation was part of an ongoing effort to address the problem of prostitution and related offenses.
