Dog groomer arrested on petty theft charges

A South Toledo dog groomer accused of fleecing clients was arrested yesterday afternoon in the 2300 block of Torrey Hill Drive, authorities said.

Stacy Bugert, 42, was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court. Authorities said she took money to groom dogs earlier this month and then abandoned them.

Arrest warrants charging her with three counts of petty theft were filed after dog owners went to get their pets Oct. 9 from Stacey s Pet Boutique on Glendale Avenue. They found a closed sign on the door. Police contacted the building owner to open the shop and return the dogs.

Ms. Bugert also had a felony theft arrest warrant filed against her in September. She was accused of refusing to pay for or return televisions from a Toledo Rent-A-Center.
