Corrections officer arrested on felonious assault charge

A state corrections officer was arrested yesterday on charges of felonious assault stemming from a domestic violence incident in June, authorities said.

Bryan Jameson, 33, of 6104 Merle St. was arrested about noon yesterday at his home and booked into the Lucas County jail. He was released on his own recognizance.

Mr. Jameson, who is an officer at the Toledo Correctional Institution, is accused of assaulting Paula J. Walters, 33, on June 25.

Ms. Walters said she and Mr. Jameson had been drinking with friends and when they returned to their home on Merle, he became angry and started yelling at her, according to a Toledo police report.

When she tried to go outside to get help and call 911, Ms. Walters reported that Mr. Jameson grabbed her by the hair and pulled her inside. The report states he threw her to the ground and held her down. He threatened to kill her by pushing her nose cartilage into her brain and then grabbed her around the neck and told her he knew how to break it, the report stated.

Mr. Jameson is accused of punching and kicking Ms. Walters several times. When she went to a bedroom to get away, he grabbed a shotgun, loaded it, and again threatened to kill her, according to the report.

He told her to go to bed and forget everything, but she drove herself to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

A warrant was filed June 25 in Toledo Municipal Court charging Mr. Jameson with domestic violence and assault. Those charges were dismissed Tuesday and he was indicted on the felonious assault charge in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Mr. Jameson is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 15.
