Toledo man arraigned in party shooting death

A South Toledo man accused in the shooting death last week of an east-side man at a Halloween party was being held in the Lucas County jail after his arraignment yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court.

James S. Cole, 47, of 213 Dale St. was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond on a murder charge. He is accused of killing Rojelio Roger Compos, 29, on Oct. 31 as the victim was removing him from the party at 1132 Greenwood Ave.

Mr. Cole was involved in a domestic argument and kept trying to get back into the residence. Mr. Compos started pushing Mr. Cole down the street; Mr. Cole allegedly pulled out a handgun and began shooting. He fired two shots into the air and a third that hit Mr. Compos in the chest, police said.

Police said partygoers detained and apparently assaulted Mr. Cole. He was booked into the jail on Monday after he was released from Toledo Hospital.
