11/9/2006

A second man has been arrested for the September murders of Tammy Cappelletty and Juan E. Ybarra in North Toledo, police said.

Tyrone Johnson, 28, of 11 East Park St. was charged with one count of aggravated murder. He was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment today in Toledo Municipal Court.

Mr. Johnson was interviewed by investigators and then arrested about 5:30 p.m. yesterday for the murders of Ms. Cappelletty and Mr. Ybarra, police said, adding that they intend to present additional charges to a grand jury.

Ms. Cappelletty and Mr. Ybarra were found shot in the head Sept. 19 in a car at Baker and Locust Streets. Both were taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where they were pronounced dead shortly after the shootings, which occurred about 7 p.m.

Police believed two suspects were in the car's back seat at the time of the shootings and that it was a drug-related incident.

Latrel Brown, 25, of 915 East Bancroft St. was indicted Oct. 25 by a Lucas County grand jury on two counts of aggravated murder and one of aggravated robbery. He remains in the county jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
