Four adults were displaced when their West Toledo mobile home was destroyed by a fire yesterday afternoon, authorities said.

The cause of the blaze at 1957 West Alexis Rd., Lot 7, just west of Jackman Road, remains under investigation, Battalion Fire Chief Bill Sulewski said.

Damage in the fire, reported about 1:40 p.m., was estimated at between $15,000 and $20,000.

The chief said the occupants smelled smoke, saw fire under a bed in the middle room, and fled the mobile home.

Vinyl skirting around two neighboring mobile homes at Lots 6 and 8 melted from the heat of the blaze.

The chief said Sally Cruser, of Lot 23, owns the mobile home but was selling it to the occupants, who were fixing it up.
