44 dead-beat parents arrested in round-up

Forty-four deadbeat parents who owe more than $802,000 in child support payments were arrested overnight during a coordinated roundup in several northwest Ohio counties.

Thirty-nine men and five women were arrested out of 80 individuals targeted. One man owed nearly $100,000 in unpaid child support.

Those arrested were expected to appear in various courts today. With the arrests, authorities cleared 133 misdemeanor and felony warrants .

County sheriff s deputies from Lucas, Fulton, Ottawa, and Wood counties; Toledo police, the Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes/Fugitive Task Force, and the U.S. Marshal s office in Toledo participated in the sweep. They were among authorities in 38 of Ohio's 88 counties who took part.
