Police seeking leads in robbery of store

12/23/2006

Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about the robbery yesterday of a West Toledo convenience store.

Two males entered the In and Out Mart, 1001 Berdan Ave., about 10:10 a.m.

One jumped onto the counter, brandishing a silver revolver with a long barrel. His accomplice sat on the corner of the counter, police said.

The male on the counter jumped off and demanded that an employee open the drawer to the cash register and the lottery. The employee complied and the robber took cash, police said.

The robber then told another employee to open a safe and took money from it. Before the pair ran out the door and around to the back of the store, one of the robbers said, "Nick, let's go," police said.

The robbers were described as black, about 17 years old, with brown eyes, and wearing dark blue or black hooded sweatshirts. The one possibly called Nick was 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, and had dark pants and a gray scarf. His accomplice was 6 feet tall and 130 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
