Warden seizes dog left shivering in cold

2/6/2007

The Lucas County dog warden's office yesterday seized a dog left in the bitter cold without food, shelter, and drinkable water, Tom Skeldon, the county dog warden, said

The dog was found in the morning chained to a television antenna in the back yard of a South Toledo house on Humboldt Street near City Park Avenue, Mr. Skeldon said.

The owner, who does not have a license for the dog, was not home. His name was not immediately available last night.

Should the dog owner show up at the county dog pound to collect the dog, he would be fined $75 for not having a dog license and be given a stern lecture for leaving the dog out in the cold, the dog warden said.
